Director’s Message

The Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Hyderabad under the Directorate of Forensic Science Services, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India is an accredited laboratory to perform criminal and civil case work analysis. It is a highly innovate and productive entity for Judiciary and Law Enforcement Agencies. I took charge as Director in January 2022 and I have the honour and privilege to work with the most impressive and dedicated team of forensic scientists and supporting staff.

The past few years have been witnessed tremendous leaps in the field of Forensic Science. New Technologies have constantly expanded the frontiers of science and Forensic Science offered innovative solutions for combating the crime. And, the Scientists at CFSL, Hyderabad constantly strive for finding solutions to the ever emerging trends in crime. The CFSL, Hyderabad was established in 1967 and is catering to the needs of various Law Enforcement Agencies, viz., CBI, NIA, IT, DRI, GST, Indian Railways, NCB, Banks etc. apart from Hon’ble Supreme Court, High Courts and various Courts and Tribunals.

Its a privilege to say that the Digital Forensic Division of CFSL, Hyderabad has the credit of being the first and only Central Laboratory notified as “Examiner of Electronic Evidence” under Section 79A of IT Act 2000. It is also declared as ‘Centre of Excellence in Cyber Forensics by the CIS Division of MHA in 2016 for its quality services and expertise.

The National Cyber Forensic Laboratory (E), established at CFSL, Hyderabad and inaugurated by Shri Amit Shah, Union Home & Cooperation Minister on 14th May 2022, aims at assisting the Law Enforcement Agencies to combat advanced cyber crimes.
